The WAN Utilisation Distribution Report uses 'mode=>MAX' to ensure it is using the most accurate summarized data available for the task at hand.
NMIS currently doesn't export data using version 8.6.8G (and newer) export data using both 'mode=>MAX', so a proposed replacement for '/path/to/nmis/cgi-bin/node.pl', named 'node_max.pl' can be made available to replace or run alongside 'node.pl'.
In this case we have chosen to run 'node_max.pl' alongside  'node.pl' which requires an extra steps to get NMIS to provide the desired data.

We must first place 'node_max.pl' at '/path/to/nmis/cgi-bin/node_max.pl' then set the required ownership and permissions:

>AVERAGE' and 'mode=>MAX'.

The best way to understand ther difference between 'mode=>AVERAGE' data and 'mode=>MAX' datas is to use NMIS version 8.6.8G (and newer) export function and compare the returned data for 'mode=>AVERAGE' and 'mode=>MAX'.
