Hello Jordi,
I'm sorry you ran into issues spinning up Open-AudIT on your server. Are you using our latest release, v2.0.6? If so, this may be an issue with the installer not interacting well with Ubuntu 16.04. We will run up a VM here and do a test install to see if we can duplicate your issue.

Note:
After restarting Apache I realized open-audit went to: http://localhost:8042/omk
So I can continue, but.. wth is doing on :8042 ??

Hi Jordi, We installed Open-AudIT v2.0.6 on an Ubuntu 16.04 VM and were unable to replicate this issue. Can you confirm the URL that you are using to navigate to the Open-AudIT GUI? An example of this would be: http://<vm ip address>/open-audit for Open-AudIT Community. After trying for a few hours to add it to apache localhost (note: I am not an Apache expert by any means) and seeing I couldn't fix the issue I removed it altogether. I can say the url was: http://localhost:8042/open-audit/index.php and from there I could "navigate" (although most links were pointing to localhost without the port); since I didn't saw the site declared on sites-available/enabled I didn't really knew how to fix it and I couldn't lose any more time with it. Anyway, I'll give it another try in a couple weeks from a Windows machine.

Jordi, I understand your frustration. As we were able to get OAE 2.0.6 working in our lab on Ubuntu 16.04 it sounds like you might have run into an issue during the install. When you did the install were you logged-in as root or running the install as sudo? Did the server have unrestricted access to the internet for appropriate packages? If you review the install.log file are there any errors or omissions during the install? I'm checking different inventory software and decided to try this one...
After the installation, it pointed me to a webpage (OAK/OAM or something like that) where I could put my credentials, default was admin/password.
I put the credentials and, the next thing:
The requested URL /open-audit/index.php was not found on this server.
I mean, I just installed it!!
I'm going to try to force-feed it to apache but, so far, I don't like Open-Audit
