Background:

When a computer already registered in the Open-AudIT and we reinstall the OS or change his hostname, after run the audit script the hostname doesn't update in the system.

This behavior start in 1.8.4 after upgrade from 1.5.3, my first thinking was something wrong with the database, so I created two new virtual machines (one with 1.5.3 and the other with 1.8.4) and the result was:

1.5.3: The Hostname is updated
1.8.4: The hostname is NOT updated

Questions:

This is a bug? or the way how the system manage the data changed?
Is possible to update the hostname in the newer version?

Thank you!

If you have a valid hostname in the hostname field (IE, not an ip address or FQDN) then it shouldn't update. If you have nothing, an ip address or a FQDN in the hostname field then it should update.

I'll have a more thorough look into this.

EDIT - Just checked. I submitted an audit result for an existing device (that had a valid hostname) with a hostname change. It did change the record in the database.

        Thank you Mark.
