I have looked at opEvents priority levels vs. NMIS and Syslog levels but I am still confused.

Is the priority of an event calculated using the "syslog" protocol?

Is it possible to change the priority of an event?

      Hi Clive,

The priority of an event is set automatically based on its level or syslog criticality, referring to the table in the link you mentioned opEvents priority levels vs. NMIS and Syslog levels, a syslog event which is warning, will be given a priority of 3, while a syslog which is alert will be given a priority of 7.

You can change the priority of an event using the event parsing system or using the Event Actions system.  You will see an example if the first page of Event Actions and Escalation (opEvents 4).

We made this very flexible so you can include an event action like "IF event.node eq "important name" THEN priority(10).

Given you have a support contract, you can open a support case if you need to.
