Importing Devices

Devices of all types can be imported using an Excel spreadsheet. Different device types will need different attributes in the spreadsheet. Sample spreadsheets are provided in the open-audit/other/imports folder. Inside the spreadsheets, columns in red are mandatory. Every row must have an attribute from this column set. Columns that are blue must have at least one of these set per row. In the case of green, this substitutes for a blue column but must have both columns set for a given row.

Complete the spreadsheet and upload it to the web interface via Admin -> Devices -> Add Multiple Devices (using a spreadsheet).

Any items that have SNMP credentials provided via the spreadsheet will be automatically scanned.

Naturally the more columns you can complete, the better your datastore will be.

These items (once imported) can be queried and changed via the web interface. You can also export them via a Query.

Device Types per supplied spreadsheets are:

  • import_phones.xls - 3g modem, cell phone, ip phone, mobile modem, phone, satellite phone, smart phone.
  • import_access_tokens.xls - Access tokens like RSA hardware keys.
  • import_computers.xls - Computers.
  • import_networked_devices - Generic devices on your network, usually containing a hostname &/or ip address.

We are adding more device types all the time. All devices have a corresponding icon. If you have a specific device type you would like catered for, please let us know via the forums. Below are the valid device types in the form of database attribute value = human readable value. You should use the database attribute value in your spreadsheet.
